This Saturday from 9am-12pm, we will be working in the Venable garden. No experience required--just a desire to have a good time with friends and a willingness to get a little dirty! Bagels and drinks are provided. If you have simple yard tools you can bring, please make sure that they are labeled with your name on them. One of the big projects this fall is to help label some of the large trees around our school. Come help! Change to After School Clubs Start Date
After School Clubs will start one week later than originally planned. This is due to the fact that several of our clubs are run by UVA student volunteers and they have a break the week of October 5. We apologize for any inconvenience. Club forms will go home in Thursday folders in a couple of weeks. Clubs will start on Oct. 12. Find Playdates, Carpools, etc.
Be Included in the PTO Directory! The Venable Student Directory is a voluntary listing of Venable students and their families. One copy is given to each family free of charge through a grant from the Venable PTO. It is a valuable resource for getting to know other Venable families. If your family was in the directory last year and you wish to remain in the directory with the same information, there is no need to do anything. If you want your information removed from the directory, please email KeriAn Dodson at [email protected]. If you were not included in the directory last year or you want to update your information for this year, please follow this link to include your family's information in the annual directory: PTO Directory Sign-Up Form. Paper sign-up forms will be sent home to families who have not accessed the online form. |
Back to School Night is Next Week!
Next Thursday, come to hear about all the great things happening in your child's classroom this year during Back to School Night. There will be a general meeting for parents and introductions of staff in the auditorium followed by two 20-minute sessions in classrooms. Specials teachers will be in the library and Quest and reading teachers will also hold sessions for parents. Sessions are for parents only. If you need childcare, it will be provided and students will be served pizza, compliments of the PTO. See the flyer below for more details. Want to better understand your child's math? Want to learn some new games to play? Come to Math Night! Tuesday, Sept. 29, 5:30pm
Back by popular demand is our Venable math night! Each grade level is preparing several games or activities that your students can play at home or at school to help reinforce some of the major concepts in math this year. Come learn and have fun with us! Pizza is provided and Venable students are encouraged to come with parents to play along together. Reminders about Transportation
We have had one of the smoothest openings ever with regard to student transportation. We keep marveling that we've had no major back-ups at morning drop off this year! Thank you to all parents for meeting our buses, communicating changes of transportation in a timely fashion (before 1:30pm), and helping us by keeping a consistent schedule for your child's after school transportation plans. A few reminders about morning drop off can help make things even more smooth:
