We have had a few staffing changes since the beginning of school. With a 4th grade class of 52 students, we qualified for another 4th grade position on the 10th day of school. Ms. Scudder, who began the year as our math specialist, has transitioned to the new 4th grade position and our new class began on Wednesday. In addition to the classroom teacher gain, we lost a half position in our special education department. Ms. Tucker, one of our special education teachers, is now part time special education/intervention and part time math specialist.
Back to School Night is Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 5:30-7:05pm!
Join Venable’s staff and PTO for an informational evening. Come learn about your PTO and how to get connected! Beginning in the auditorium, the PTO will hold an important general membership meeting to introduce officers and sponsor a Question and Answer session with Ms. Kershner. Afterwards, parents have the opportunity to visit their child’s homeroom and specials teachers to hear about what students will be doing in school this year. Click here for more information.
Thank you to Papa John's Pizza for donating 52 empty pizza boxes for a 4th grade math project.

Annual Walk-A-Thon Sept. 23!
Please help support our biggest PTO fundraiser of the year! We have set a goal for 200 pledge forms to be returned this year. If we meet that goal, the class with the highest return rate gets to determine what color Ms. Kershner will dye her hair and Mr. Schock will dye his goatee! Thank you to the Hope Center, which has made a goal of $300 in pledges this year. Click here for the Walk-A-Thon flyer, in case you misplaced yours. Pledge forms are due Sept. 20.
Sept. 18-24 is TV Turn-off Week!
Flyers are going home this Thursday about TV-Turn-off Week. Help make next week a "screen-free" week at home. Some suggested activities are available at this website (ignore #45--go to a movie!).
Sept. 26 is Family Day in Charlottesville!
On Sept. 19, the Charlottesville City Council will make a Proclamation naming Sept. 26th as "Family Day - A day to have dinner with your children" in Charlottesville.
Changes in K/1 Report Cards
