Walk-A-Thon Pledges: Keep them Coming
Thank you to everyone who has already turned in a pledge form from our Walk-A-Thon. Your child's final number of laps will be returned to you so that you can determine pledge totals. We are asking that all pledges be turned in by the end of the month. Thank you for helping us support healthy kids and raise funds for important Venable PTO programs! Assistant Principal On Leave
Mrs. Paige will be on leave from October 14 through the end of December. Malcolm Jarrell, retired CCS administrator (and former principal at Venable), will be our substitute assistant principal in her absence. Making the Most of Parent-Teacher Conferences
Believe it or not, parent teacher conferences are right around the corner. Our first quarter ends on October 23 and it is our goal to have an in-person conference with each family during or at the end of the quarter. This conference is a chance for you to provide us with your expert insight into your child and to learn about the progress that he or she is making thus far. Because there are many things that can be reviewed in a conference, it is often helpful to come with some specific questions that you know you want to review with your child's teacher. Don't be afraid to be direct! We want you to leave having a clear impression of what is happening in your child's classroom and how you and your child's teacher can partner together in support of an exciting year of deep learning. Recently, an article by Terry Heick posted on Edutopia lists questions you could choose from when thinking about your upcoming parent-teacher conference. Pick a couple to start with, as they will likely spark deep conversation: "19 Questions Your Child’s Teacher Would (Probably) Love to Answer" (http://www.edutopia.org/blog/19-questions-for-parents-terry-heick)
