New Book Buddies Coordinator
Welcome to Lauren Penniman, our new Book Buddies coordinator. Lauren started on Thursday, September 27 and will soon have tutoring up and running for 1st graders. Ms. Penniman taught Kindergarten for 6 years at Burnley-Moran Elementary School and is eager to put her literacy knowledge to work in a different capacity. The Book Buddies room is now located across from the art room. Stop by to introduce yourself to Mrs. Penniman.
Join Mrs. Kershner to learn more about Responsive Classroom at the 1st Coffee and Conversation October 12.
We will have coffee and tea in the art room from 8:00-8:45 for any parents who would like to come for an informal overview of Responsive Classroom at Venable. If other things are on your mind, come and share those as well! This is a chance to get to know one another and have your questions about Venable answered in an informal group setting.
Walk-A-Thon Pledge Form Goal Met!

A huge thanks to the following parents/staff who are teaching these electives for our students:

Report Card Changes for 2012-13
There are a few things that will look different about this year's CCS report cards that we want to highlight for you ahead of time.
Our first quarter parent-teacher conferences will be held toward the end of 1st Quarter. You will receive information on assessments that have been given and progress your child is making at that time. Report cards will be handed out at the conferences that happen after October 25. If your conference falls before October 25, you will get your report card in the Thursday folder on November 8. Our goal is for 100% of our parents to have an in-person conference with your child's teacher, so we will work with you to schedule them at a time and place that are mutually convenient.
