Fourth Grade Electives Launched!
For seven Fridays this fall, fourth graders will be learning with an expert in a field of their choice. This Project Based Learning opportunity will involve students asking big questions and designing projects that help answer those questions or solve a problem. In addition to a final project, students will be keeping elective journals that track their learning and thinking about these fun topics. A huge thanks to the following parents/staff who are teaching these electives for our students:
Colby Tofel-Grehl & David Feldon:Venable's Environmental Impact Tim Heaphy: Law and Order Coe Sweet: Photography Miller Susen: Acting: Fun and Fundamentals David Smith: Economics Amy Yeargen: Interior Design Bill Shillue: Radio Observatory Lori Shinseki: Documentary Filming Beth Schrank: Civil War Writing Report Card Changes for 2012-13
There are a few things that will look different about this year's CCS report cards that we want to highlight for you ahead of time.
Our first quarter parent-teacher conferences will be held toward the end of 1st Quarter. You will receive information on assessments that have been given and progress your child is making at that time. Report cards will be handed out at the conferences that happen after October 25. If your conference falls before October 25, you will get your report card in the Thursday folder on November 8. Our goal is for 100% of our parents to have an in-person conference with your child's teacher, so we will work with you to schedule them at a time and place that are mutually convenient. |
