Student Led Conferences March 16 and March 30
Dates have been set! Your child's teacher will be communicating with you about a time slot to come in for your child's student-led conference either on March 16 (for grades 3-4) or March 30 (for all other grades). This week we are sending out a flyer about questions you can ask your child during and after the student-led conference. We hope to have all students return to school for their conference with an adult--this is your child's opportunity to show you some of what he or she has learned this school year and reflect on his or her progress. If, after the conference, you have questions for your child's teacher, please let him or her know that you would like to schedule a separate parent-teacher conference. Thank you for joining us on this new, exciting adventure that we hope will further help put your child in the driver's seat of his or her learning. 4th Grade Students Selected for Arts Opportunities
Congratulations to the following students who have been selected for the All-Virginia Chorus and Team XL with Minds in Motion
Family Garden Workday on March 11
Please join us in the garden any time between 9am-12pm to help get the gardens ready for spring. All hands are welcome! If you have garden tools, please bring them. Bagels and coffee will be on hand for the workers! Spring Reminders from the Clinic
We are hopeful that soon we will be over the hump of the winter virus season. Please remember that if your child is vomiting, has diarrhea or a fever, he or she needs to stay home until all symptoms are gone for 24 hours. Also, please note that hand washing is the best defense against the viruses--hand sanitizer does not protect against Norovirus. We are also encouraging hand washing here at school. Since allergy season seems to have arrived earlier than usual this year, please remember to be proactive if your child needs allergy medicine and give it at home before school. Family Movie Night--Zootopia comes to Venable!
This year our PTO has received a license to show one family movie to our school community. We are hosting movie night on Friday, March 24 from 5pm-8pm in the auditorium. Our auditorium seats 350, so please stay tuned for the flyer that will tell you how to reserve a seat and pizza for this fun, new event. Bike week at Venable
Thank you to Mrs. Martin and Kyle Rodland from Safe Routes to School for bringing us bike week this week! The students have learned safety tips for bikes and pedestrians--see the green flyer coming home in this week's Thursday folder. They have also practiced riding bikes and stryders on a bike course set up in the gym. We had a blast! |
