Summer Slide is Not Just on the Playground
With a long summer break ahead of us, it's important to start planning now how you will encourage your child to keep up his or her reading, writing, math, and problem-solving skills. There are a number of great programs in the area to encourage reading. Check out the JMRL public library for incentives. The librarian from Gordon Avenue library visited us in May to give all students a reading log and list of events. Reading to your child is a great way to engage in critical thinking and have some common stories to talk about.
