Congratulations to Ms. Mimms!
On Friday, December 20, we received a surprise visit from Laura Chervenak, Vice President at Explore Learning. She brought an iPad mini, which Ms. Mimms won in a drawing. Her name was submitted for the drawing each week her students completed three days of Reflex Math and achieved 75% Green Light usage. Way to go Team Mimms! End of Semester Assessments
Each grade level has several assessments that they are completing with students over the course of the next few weeks to document student progress on reading and math skills. Many of the assessments are given individually to students, so a team of staff members are involved in administering the assessments. In reading, we are measuring fluency (rate of reading) and comprehension, as well as specific grammar skills that have been taught so far this year. In math, the assessments are measuring broad problem solving as well as specific skills taught during the 2nd quarter. Don't be surprised if your child comes home saying that they read or took a test with Mrs. Paige or Mrs. Kershner! Results of the assessments will be used to design instructional activities for your child second semester and to report progress on the report cards. Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, January 30. School Tours Starting
This is the time of year when prospective families begin touring schools to make decisions about next year. If you know of a family who is interested in Venable, please direct them to our website, where a list of tours is included, along with information about signing up. The tours last approximately 45 minutes and include stops in all grade levels. Seeking Golden Apple Award Nominations
