We had a fantastic first week of school at Venable! We have been meeting new friends, learning procedures, and getting started with our learning. We had our first school assembly, our first fire drill, our first PTO pot luck, and our first Big Daddy's Pizza lunch!
At our assembly on Friday morning we reviewed the All-Star Rules and the character pillars that will guide our interactions as a school community. Please take some time to review with your child how the All-Star Rules can be used both at home and at school to ensure a successful, positive year.
After Labor Day, our students will be doing MAP assessments. These computer-based assessments will be given three times a year in grades 1-4 in order to help us measure student growth and progress in Language Arts and Math.
Back to School Night is Tuesday, September 20. We will begin with a Q&A with Ms. Kershner at 5:30 and then transition into official PTO/School business at 6pm. Please join us! Our Walk-a-Thon is coming up on September 23! In the next few weeks you will receive more information about this fantastic Venable tradition and how your whole family can be involved to promote healthy habits and help the school. |
Arrival/Dismissal Notes:--Thank you for your patience with buses these first few weeks of school. New routes and new drivers are working out the kinks.
--During morning carpool in the front, please pull up as far as you can so that we can fit as many vehicles as possible in the circle. --The buses unload on the Gordon Avenue side of the building in the morning. Please avoid pulling in to the bus drop-off during the morning arrival times. --Thank you to everyone for following our Right Turn Only request out of the parking lot in the afternoons. --We are requesting that carpool be a cell-phone-free zone. With all the car and pedestrian traffic, we appreciate your full attention to the safety of our students and yourselves. Enjoy the moment(s) with your child with one less distraction and help us maintain intentionally safe arrivals and departures. --So that we can match you with your child accurately and efficiently in the afternoons, please use each of our areas as they are intended. Walkers are picked up outside the North Lobby and carpoolers are picked up in the back of the building. Please use the carpool line if you are in a car--it is less than 13 minutes long, even this first week of school! |
